Dear Kim,
1. Usually figurines are made from clay, ceramic or stone carving.
2. Red represents the fire element.
3. Usually, figurines is considered as belonging to the earth element. And red buddha figurines are considered as belong to a fire-earth combination.
4. Fire earth combination is usually auspicious as compared to a water-earth combination.
5. For the figurines, the attached caricature (not available for mailing list participants - need to use the web forum) has a few advise on the placement of figurines.
6. It is also interesting to note that the coming Lunar New Year beginning on 1st February 2003 in general is a combination of Water (Heavenly stem) with Goat belonging to the Earth element.
Therefore, 2003, can be known as the Water-Goat or Water-Earth Goat Year.
7. During our many talks private and public this year, one can get a glimse of the Year from the attached picture:-

Do take a look at the goat:
7.1 Have you ever personally seen a goat (sheep or ram) snokelling?
7.2 Can a goat swim in the vast water surrounding it....
Warmest Regards,
Cecil

Excellent site. The best for beginners and for more advanced "amateurs". Hopefully, I will continue learning from it, and eventually become a premium member. Keep it up and prosper.... (I am learning that myself from my slow progress in I Ching and Fengshui).
