Dear Anon,
1. If it is a temporary arrangement, the major concern would be the lighting and the `cleanliness' of the place. (Not so much - crucial about Feng Shui).
2. However, in Feng Shui, try to make sure that you and your family are comfortable in this temp location. And since, it is a basement, the ventilation should be adequate.
