Dear Anon,
1. For crystals, it is best placed in a location where it catches natural light.
2. Often, some FS practitioner would recommend it at the following locations:-
2.1 Where two bedroom doors are in alignment, a crystal is hang mid-way on the ceiling between the two doors.
This is still acceptable.
2.2 Some FS practitioners recommend haning it to cure overhead beam.
This may not be good. Because if we base it on the Five Elements concept, wood would be an ideal choice to cure concrete beams. And metal is good to cure wooden beams.
3. In my opinion, "crystals" e.g. especially of glass material are too highly commercialised today i.e. it is relatively cheap to produce and the mark-up or profit earned is high.
And many sites selling them are too eager to promote it as a wonder cure for "sha qi" or instead to create "positive qi." Something like the `mother of all cures".
4. A simple flat mirror can usually be used. And sometimes more effective.
5. For crystals, it need not be hung with red string. Any string will do.
6. The danger with using crystals is because the main argument here is that it can be considered or originated from `earth' i.e. sand /silicate etc... One view point is that it is considered as belonging to the `earth element'.
7. And overall earth element is pretty strong throughout the year. And there are very bad elements associated with earth such as `sickness' and `misfortune'.
8. We do not want to inadvertenly activate such bad earth elements.
Overall, I would say that many of the crystals purchased i.e. let us look at it this way, these crystals are pretty small. Many are no bigger than golf balls. And it is difficult to `introduce' light into them and the output of dispersed light is minimal.
In fact, natural light coming into the house can easily be more beneficial to the home.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
